Home / Environment / Sustainability

Trumpington Meadows has impeccable sustainability credentials. All homes on the site will be designed and built to comply with Levels 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Standard features include solar thermal panels, a water butt and composter (home with gardens only) and a water saving bath and restrictor. Options available at extra cost include PV panels, a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) system, eco paint and energy efficient appliances.

The new country park and wildlife habitat improvements will help nature to thrive. As for our restoration work along the River Cam, the importance of this has been recognised by a Silver Green Apple Award from the Green Organisation. This restoration work has raised the level of the river bed to improve fish spawning and invertebrate habitat, and increased the level of protection for kingfishers and otters. We have also allowed a wild flower meadow to revert to being a flood meadow, to control floodwater and provide a better habitat for wildlife.

Trumpington Meadows has been designed to promote walking, cycling and public transport before the use of the private car. The adjacent park and ride facility will mean Trumpington Meadows homeowners can travel into the city easily and conveniently without using their cars, reducing traffic congestion and harmful vehicle emissions.

Trumpington Meadows is 3.5 km from Cambridge City centre and is situated to the west of Hauxton Road.
