Historically the site has been used for a variety of agricultural, research and development activities and was previously home to the Plant Breeding Institute.
The site extends to over 350 acres including
- Approximately 59 acres of net developable area
- 145 acre Country Park of meadows and grassland
- 150 acres of arable land reconfigured in a way to reflect the historic field pattern
- Within the development area, over 10 acres of pocket parks and childrens play areas and a new primary school
The site also:
- Lies approximately 3.5 km from Cambridge city centre
- Lies to the west of Hauxton Road- a gateway into Cambridge from the south
- Is within easy reach of Trumpington village centre
- Is well-located for access to London, East Anglia and the Midlands
- Is adjacent to the Trumpington Park & Ride
Work on the infrastructure for the site, including road access and the country park, is due to start in the autumn with construction on the houses commencing in early 2011. Barratt will build the first phase designed by leading architect Allies and Morrison.
